Design of the experimental study. Blood samples and 31phosphorus magnetic resonance spectra (MRS) were regularly taken under steady state conditions of an euglycemic hyperinsulinemic clamp (EHC) to monitor cerebral and peripheral energy metabolism. Transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) or sham stimulation, respectively, were induced to affect neuronal brain activity.
