Stability of the steady states of the continuous model of the Th network. a. The Th0 state is stable under small perturbations. b. A large perturbation on IFN-γ is able to move the system from the Th0 to the Th1 steady state. This latter state is stable to perturbations. c. A large perturbation of IL-4 moves the system from the Th0 state to the Th2 state, which is stable. For clarity, only the responses of key cytokines and transcription factors are plotted.
